e>p -- e greater than p

e>p, "e greater than p" refers to an economic development strategy of growing jobs in pace with or faster than population — "employment greater than population."

A small group of San Juan County community leaders formed a think tank called e>p (pronounced "E Greater than P") to research the economic sustainability solutions for the San Juan region.

SJEDS works with the E>P Group. The e>p Group is a private sector think tank whose goal is data collection and a targeted industries study. Early in the process, the group got together with the San Juan Economic Development Service, whose main focus has always been employee retention and recruitment in the area. San Juan Economic Development serves as E>P's fiduciary agent. "We needed to know how many economic-based jobs we have in San Juan County. Which ones are oil and gas, coal mining and electric production, and we needed to know what other economic based companies are out there. How much do all of those really add up to?" said Tom Taylor, one of E>P's members. — From the Tri-City Tribune.
