Raytheon Diné Facility employs 291 people, and their workforce is 93% Navajo. They have an expanding line of products, including the Excaliber, Stinger, Tactical Tomahawk, Javelin and Stinger Launchers. Their customer service

Raytheon Diné Facility exports 100% of their product; their customers are the Department of Defense, including the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines, as well as the Allied Nations.


 

Jack's Plastic Welding
Jack’s Plastic Welding produces recreational and industrial equipment. Jack Kloepfer & Errol Baade started this company in Aztec, NM. Their core products include whitewater inflatable
rafts, sleeping pads and dry pacs. In recent years Jack has designed custom products for a diverse group of industries. They also make medical training products that help train
professionals to save lives: Robotic lungs in both adult & baby sizes for a teaching hospital in Florida. They have produced custom culvert plugs and an inflatable curtain for the BHP
Diamond Mine in Canada, and a Tsunami Warning System of floatation devices. Jack’s exports 90 % of their product. The company has customers in South America, Canada, Denmark, Africa, Antarctica, and in the Intermountain and Western Region of the United States, and some Eastern States. And an inflatable refrigerator skeleton for Cirque Du Soliel - It weighs only 20 lbs, and drops out of the roof on top of an actor.



 

BHP Billiton New Mexico Coal
The San Juan and Navajo mines produce coal: BHP is the sole provider of fuel to both APS & PNM San Juan Generating Station coal fired power plants. Our local operation is owned
by BHP Billiton, headquartered in Melbourne, Australia. BHP bought New Mexico Coal from Utah International in 1962. BHP Billiton New Mexico Coal received one of only four national
awards given by the Department of the Interior, for the innovative approach to their reclamation project at the La Plata Mine.

ACE Services
Aztec’s own Ace Services, Inc, is owned by Mike and Muffy Waybourn. ACE stands for A Clean Environment, and offers oil field and dragline services. ACE was founded in 1986 in a trailer on the family’s property in Aztec. In 23 years, the Waybourn’s increased their employee numbers to 36 and now offer s
ervices to customers in San Juan, Rio Arriba and Sandoval Counties.

ACE Customer Service Philosophy: Quality work, done in a safe and efficient manner. ACE received the 2008 Cooper Award from the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission & the Pipeline Safety Bureau. This award is given to the qualifying contractor with the best safety record.

The business also assists the community with financial support for MADD, CAST for Kids, rodeo teams, athletic teams and the San Juan County Fair. The Waybourn family also developed the Ty Waybourn Memorial Rodeo six years ago, when their son, Ty was killed by a drunk driver. The rodeo has raised more than $100,000 for rodeo scholarships.   TurboCare Generator Services
TurboCare Generator Services, headquartered in Chicopee, MA., offers after market service and repair and manufacturing of new components for generators and motors. The company employs 285 people in San Juan County and has customers in the U.S., Latin America, Philippines and the Dominican Republic. The Farmington facility operates one of two at-speed balancing facilities, the other one is located in Poland. TurboCare provides financial support to the United Way, Connie Mack and YAFL football leagues. It also donates to United Blood Services and many other charitable organizations.


 

San Juan Regional Medical Center
San Juan Regional Medical Center was founded in 1910 and incorporated in 1952. It has 1,544 employees and serves all of Four Corners region. It is a Level-3 Trauma Center and offers numerous services to the community ranging from health education programs to athletic trainers for Kirtland and Aztec High School. Patients at SJRMC can receive cancer treatment, pediatric rehabilitation services, neurosurgery, cardiology, internal medical and behavioral health services.

 


2008 Winners

Riley Industrial Services

Riley Industrial Services was established in 1970 by founder and president G.W. "Sonny"
Riley. While most of the work is done in field applications, their base of operations is outfitted to take on the biggest jobs. Located on 27 acres, this truck-accessible facility includes
over 50,000 square feet of enclosed sandblast bays, heated paint shops, force cure facilities and over 10 acres of available outside abrasive blasting and laydown areas.

The warehouse facility has a large inventory of supplies, equipment and specialty items that
enable Riley Industrial Services to start virtually any job at a moment's notice. They specialize in industrial painting, coating and linings; abrasive blasting (sandblasting); high pressure water washing; hydro excavation; lead abatement; and secondary containment system. They also provide industrial vacuum services to handle virtually any industrial vacuuming application.

This second-generation family-owned and operated corporation includes George W. Riley III and Gary Riley as its corporate officers. From the outset, the company has enjoyed continued growth. Customers know they can count on Riley Industrial Services to deliver, and their loyalty has fueled their continuous expansion. "We have outstanding employees and a group of supporters," said Sonny Riley.


 

 

Hydro Pure Technology, Inc.

Hydro Pure specializes in providing high purity reverse osmosis water for natural gas processing. They also transport waste water from oilfield production facilities to permitted oilfield water disposals, and offer separation treatment of oilfield-generated water and oil emulsions. The recovered oil is reclaimed by a local recycler who creates recycled petroleum products.

Aztec Machine & Repair /
Cranes & Material Handling

Aztec Machine & Repair specializes in hydraulic repair, machining and fabrication, with a complete machine shop with field machining capabilities.

Cranes & Material Handling sells, inspects and repairs mobile and overhead cranes and forklifts and materials handling equipment.

The Azetc Machine business was established in 1997, and has been involved in the annual Cancer Walk-a-Thon, youth sports and high school rodeo. Good employees, customer service, respecting the customer, fairness and courtesy are key to their company philosophy.


BP America
San Juan Performance Unit South
has been in San Juan County since the 1950's in oil and gas production. Their Environmental Management System is ISO 14,000 Certified, and they value their long-term partnership with San Juan College School of Energy. Recently BP's donation helped to create a new program with the School of Energy to help educate students through well simulation animation. This creative approach safely brings the field into the classroom, to better prepare future field workers for their jobs.

Corporate giving at the local level is guided by a committee of employees who decide where that budget will be applied. The Matching Program gives dollars to match those that an employee gives, or a dollar amount to match the hours that an employee volunteers. They are also active in the McCormick Elementary School Big Brothers/Big Sisters program.


PNM San Juan Generating Station started out as Albuquerque Light & Ice in 1917, and is now New Mexico’s largest publicly traded company. San Juan Generating Station is an 1,800 MW electric generating plant in San Juan County since 1971. They have increased production through improvements in equipment and processes.

Partnering with San Juan College, they have supported the creation of programs such as Industrial Process Operator Program (IPOP), Instrumental Controls Electricians (ICE), and the Mechanical Maintenance Program. This partnership helps train better workers for career advancement.

PNM is a proud corporate citizen, one of the largest in the state. Their leadership team serves on several local boards, and other community improvement projects. Their customer service philosophy is do the right thing, and this relates to every aspect of employee and community interaction. Locally, they are active in the Helmets to Hardhats Program, educational grants, and San Juan College School of Energy partnerships.

 


2006 Winners

Aztec Well Servicing Co. is an oil and gas drilling company and a provider of well service and trucking in San Juan County since 1963. They are the largest independent contractor in their field. Aztec Well Servicing recognize that their employees are a big part of their success and the company strives to provide a good, safe place to work and promote employees from within whenever they can. Aztec Well has been involved in combining the Oil & Gas Meth Coalition with the County Meth effort to create the Safe Communities Initiative. They are also working with San Juan College School of Energy to develop training programs for the Oil & Gas Industry.


DB Technologies Inc. installs telecommunications infrastructure in California, Colorado and New Mexico. They offer fiber-optic cable engineering and installation, and residential high-speed connectivity. Bill Woodard and Dave Hawkins, who have over 38 years of combined experience as Certified Optic Technicians, have owned and operated the company since 2001. They started with two full-time employees and have grown to eight employees. DB Technologies is proud of the relationships they have built with their customers and with their employees. At DB Technologies, the employee “owns” his project, and is accountable to the company and to the customer.

Local municipalities, schools and industrial companies have supported this company from its inception. Dave and Bill are active supporters of the community, sponsoring Project Graduation, baseball teams, serving on the San Juan County Fair Board, and participating in RiverFest.

 


2005 Winners
EZ Shade was established by Dennis Ivie as a subsidiary of Ivie & Associates in 1996. The company started with 4 full-time employees and currently has 14 full-time and one part-time employee. As an exporter and an import substitution, E Z Shade provides their products and services to customers in Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico. This company serves as a distribution center, providing materials to other retailers as well as constructing custom structures for customers. This company has a strong history of community leadership and service-- Dennis Ivie has been a leader with the Boy Scouts of America as well as participating in San Juan Rotary, Farmington Planning and Zoning, and the Home Builders Association. He encourages his employees to get involved as well.

Dugan Production Corporation was incorporated in 1961. Originally established as a consulting firm in 1959 by Tom Dugan, it quickly expanded from contract pumping and consulting into drilling, exploration and production. The company currently owns and operates 950 wells in the Four Corners area. The company employs 125 people and generates $1.5 million per month in expenses in the local economy. Dugan Production Corp supports the community through participation and contributions including the United way, San Juan Regional Medical Center's Cancer Treatment Center, San Juan College Foundation, and the college's Regional Energy Training Center (RETC). Dugan's employees work closely with San Juan College, are advisory members for the RETC, and sponsor on-the-job training for this program.


2004 Winners
C & J Equipment Manufacturing is a full service fabrication company established in 1978 providing ASME code vessels, vacuum tanks and pump packages for the oil and gas industry including Noise Abatement Systems and Natural Gas Compressor Packages, employing 65 people. Their customers are in Colorado and New Mexico, and their customer service philosophy is "Focus on our customers, and help them solve problems." David Thornton, Owner.

APS-Four Corners Power Plant is an electric utility company that sells electric power to New Mexico, California, Arizona and Texas. They employ 575 people in San Juan County. Their customer service philosophy is "Provide competitively priced electric generation reliably, safely and with environmental responsibility." David Saliba, Production Manager. www.aps.com


Merrion Oil & Gas finds, develops, produces and markets oil and gas. They export natural gas to California, Arizona and Nevada. They have 20 full time and 3 part time employees. Their customer service philosophy is "Be fair and honest, plan wisely, do superior work, align interests for common goals and have fun." T. Greg Merrion, President.

 


2003 Winners Frontier Trophy - Frontier Trophy Buckles designs and crafts high quality custom buckles and western jewelry at affordable prices. Trophy items are custom designed and handcrafted by Native American silversmiths. Each Frontier Trophy Buckle is made-to-order of solid sterling silver or sterling silver fill with accents of jewelers gold or 12 kt gold fill. PESCO - PESCO, Process Equipment & Service Company, Inc., manufactures pressure vessels, tanks, production units, and dehydrators for the oil and gas industry. They market and sell equipment throughout the US, Venezuela, Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago, Colombia, Poland, Canada and England. Established in 1980, this company employs 205 in San Juan County.


Burlington Resources - One of the worlds largest independent oil and gas exploration and production companies. In the San Juan Basin they operate or hold interests in more than 11,000 natural gas wells, and employ over 2,100 people internationally, with Farmington a major office. Acquired by ConocoPhillips in 2006.
