SJEDS is the first point of contact to connect expanding companies with resources to contribute to their success. SJEDS collaborates with San Juan County, San Juan College, the cities of Aztec, Bloomfield, and Farmington, as well as the Navajo Nation on pertinent issues and projects for the purpose of job creation and developing a healthy and more diverse economy. SJEDS helps businesses find the resources for expansion and relocation, and incubation (start-up). We look for and advocate for tax incentives, job training programs, appropriate land and business packages.

Job Training Incentive program results for San Juan County

JTIP has funded 25 projects in San Juan County since 2000, over $1.1 million in training dollars, and training 350 people in San Juan County, New Mexico.

Farmington — $800-thousand dollars to create 200 jobs at various companies, including Independent Mobility, Industrial Repair and PESCO.

Bloomfield — $200-thousand in training funds to help create 50 jobs at C&J Equipment.

Shiprock — Funded four projects (Navtech, Raytheon Missile Systems, and BCDS Manufacturing, Inc.) in the amount of $250-thousand for the creation of 94 jobs.

The Step-UP Program has provided $19-thousand to train 47 existing employees at C&J Equipment, PESCO and Animas Environmental Services.



SJEDS is housed in the Quality Center for Business at San Juan College, Farmington New Mexico. The Quality Center for Business was created out of a unique partnership between the City of Farmington and San Juan College. Also located here is the Business & Industry Training Center, the Enterprise Center (business incubator), the Small Business Development Center, the New Mexico Procurement Assistance Program, and the Northwest New Mexico Council of Governments’ field office.
