Bloomfield Community Profile

Bloomfield, New Mexico is built on the banks of the San Juan River, just 25 miles downstream from Navajo Lake and the reknowned tailwater fishery of the Quality Waters.

Known as the "Gas Capitol of the United States" because of the large production of natural gas in the area, Bloomfield is home to installations by Conoco, El Paso Natural Gas, Williams Field Services and Burlington Resources.

With a population of 6,417, moderate cost of living, a low crime rate, and access to a wide range of recreational opportunities, Bloomfield is an ideal community to raise a family.

The city of Bloomfield, as well as the cities of Aztec, and Farmington, and San Juan County are each certified with the New Mexico Economic Development Department’s Certified Communities Initiative. This designation reflects empowered communities who actively plan for a healthy economic future. Also see nmpartnershp.com, Certified Communities web page at New Mexico Economic Development Department, and the Certified Communities brochure from New Mexico Economic Development Department.
