THIS YEAR'S EDGE AWARD WINNERS ARE:

Each of the winning companies credited their outstanding employees with the company’s success.

The three companies won the prestigious award from a field of nine economic base companies that had been nominated this year. Nearly 200 people attended SJEDS 6th annual awards banquet to honor the nominees, the winners and enjoy the keynote address. Dr. Lowell Catlett, a Regents professor at NMSU captivated the audience while offering his appreciation to the community of San Juan County and the efforts of SJEDS to attract new industry into the area while supporting and assisting the existing industries.

The Economic Development, Growth & Excellence (EDGE) Award was created in 2002 by San Juan Economic Development Service as a way to thank and recognize the contribution of economic base companies to the economy of San Juan County. The criteria for the awards are based on excellence in four categories that include export, economic wage, import substitution and leadership.

Nominees for the awards, in addition to the winners, included Animas Environmental Services, Bearcat Drilling, Manufactured Stone, Morningstar Minerals, Nott, Ltd and TRC Construction.

Nominations for the 2008 EDGE Award are already being accepted. Information on the EDGE Award and the nomination form can be found here.

SJEDS' Moving Forward Campaign is a successful launch!
During a series of Investment lunches and breakfasts from October through December, SJEDS introduced a number of community businesses to the Moving Forward Campaign. With the Moving Forward Campaign, companies or organizations invest annually for a five-year pledge. Investment levels range from $250 per year to $40,000 per year. Over 11 companies pledged their support. See SJEDS new investment partners and read more about the Moving Forward Campaign here. Read the Moving Forward brochure.

SJEDS' goal is to develop a long-term stable funding base and sustainable economic development programs to move the San Juan County's economy forward. Success is a strong economy with quality jobs, growing companies and diversified economic growth for San Juan County.

A special thanks goes to our Lead Investors, who pledged support even before the Moving Forward campaign was launched: PNM, San Juan Regional Medical Center, Aztec Machine, Bank of the Southwest, FastTrack Communications, Kysar Insurance, and Wells Fargo.
