San Juan County lies in the northwest corner of New Mexico, where it adjoins Colorado, Utah and Arizona and is partially contained in the Navajo Nation. Rich in cultural treasures and environmental splendor, the county is centrally located in the vast outdoor playground of deserts, canyons, mountains and waterways that make up the Four Corners.

For the past two years, San Juan has been the fastest growing county in New Mexico. Its population increased by more than 24% between 1990 and 2000, to a total of 113,801.

The county's economy, based in natural resources, power production and regional trade, is diversified andexpanding. Yet the cost of living is modest and the ready access to nearby summer and winter outdoor recreational opportunities is outstanding. San Juan County is a great place to live and work.
